§ Writing Assignments
At the end of his essay, Alex Haley says we should “Find the good-and praise it.” Can you think of three kinds of people who do important work yet receive little praise? Such people might include:
· Teachers
· Nurses
· Garbage collectors
· Police officers
· Fathers or mothers
· School maintenance workers
· People who keep essential services going
Write a one-three-one paragraph about three of these groups, giving specific reasons why each deserves to be praised for good work. Alternatively, write a one-three-one paragraph about one of these groups, discussing three specific areas in which it deserves praise.
