Diagnostic Writing

You will have 40 minutes to write an essay on the following topic. Before you begin to write, think about the topic and decide the direction you want to lead the reader into.
“What is your current major at SIUC? Do you like it? Why? Please give me three reasons why you like or dislike your major.”
This essay will not be graded. However, in order for me to grasp a complete picture of your writing, be sure to include the following in your answer:
· Five fully-developed paragraphs (an introduction, 3 main body paragraphs, a conclusion)
· A thesis statement (the main idea of your essay)
· Specific supporting details of your arguments
